• other illustration - cute punk

I don’t really remember why i drew this cute punk. Maybe a greetings card or a teeshirt?

  • identity related - Ambacht in Beeld 2024

Illustration for the crafts festival (Amsterdam edition) 2024. Oh, and i also did those letters.

  • other illustration - A Room With A View

A Room With A View originally was made for the theatre show ‘Some Kind Of Golem’ by Amsterdam klezmer Band but the song for which this work was intended needed another image during the development of the show. So now it found its home at the waiting room of the Doctor’s Office of my friend Esther.

  • cartoon-portrait - maksim

Birth card for Maksim, by Thamar and Axel. This lovely couple met on a party where I introduced them and after alcohol drenched night they met again and became partners for life. So the birth card of Maksim has a linkt to the vodka i poured them that night.

  • other illustration - go to india

Drawing for my friend Sjoerd who, at some point, went to India on a motor bike.

  • identity related - Maison Tonale

Maison Tonale is an Amsterdam based live acid house band. They asked me to provide them with a key image that captures their vibe.

  • Poster - Szikra

Poster for the ‘Szikra’ tour of Amsterdam Klezmer Band with Söndörgö. Since i made their album look like a board game, i thought of the idea of playing cards being used to read the future by a Balkan mysterious lady. After all, a tour poster is a window to the future is it not?

  • Poster - Shot in the Dark

Poster for the event I organised with Patrick Moonen: once a month we had acts, dinner and dj’s in a circus tent.

  • Poster - Kali Maya

Poster (autonomous work) with Kali – stating ‘Nothing lasts Forever’. I called this poster ‘Kali Maya because Maya posed for it and ‘Maya’ means the ‘veil between us and reality’. The poster is silk printed by hand in 5 colours and is 1.20 cm high.

If you want to buy a print (there are two left) mail me!

  • Painting - El cuerpo

The body is not the soul is not the spirit, says the nun.

  • Poster - Amsterdam Beat Club NYE party

Poster and flyer for Amsterdam Beat Club, a ’50s/’60s oriented club night with bands, dancers, acts and deejays.

  • Poster - Dim’ Lights

Dim’ lights was an event for people who love dancing but hate electronic beats: that’s me!!! I loved to do this poster.

  • other illustration - glamour feet

  • other illustration - Circus characters

Poster for a circus. I’d love to do more assignments in this style – drop me a line if you have interest!

  • editorial - Tagore

portrait of Tagore for ‘Religie & Mystiek’ Magazine

  • identity related - Bernie’s Lounge

Bernie’s Lounge asked me to do do their record, poster and some identity illustrations. We chose to give them some ‘street credibility’ with a latin ‘big city’ feel to it and i made the cover illustrations with stencil print techniques.

  • editorial - Religie & Mystiek

illustration for the magazine ‘Religie & Mystiek’.

  • other illustration - cute muslim girl

This is a design for a button. You could buy buttons from Buzzworks at record stores and comic stores, and on festivals. Buzzworks asked several Dutch comic artists to make buttons, and i had the pleasure to be one of them.

‘the booker’s gun’ for Pepita de Pistolita.

  • other illustration - pretty woman

As the song goes ‘Pretty woman, walking down the street’ – she is a background figure in Deep Shit.

  • other illustration - when doves fly

Well, when one lives in Amsterdam and one draws – this is what you get as a side character for your animation movie.

  • other illustration - I Never Asked For It

Autonomous work. I used to sell hand made prints with this design. I have always found it miraculous that the stories in the Bible are so patriarchal. Is Mary really supposed to be happy to be impregnated with a child that she will survive and is not made with her consent?

  • other illustration - Learn to play Guitar

Learn to play Guitar was one of the fake-ads i made as a series of autonomous work.

  • other illustration - inflatable Elvis

Inflatable Elvis was one of the fake ads that I used to make. I wished i still had time for these fun projects. But, now that i am developing ‘Baby Boom in Amsterdam’ a lot of this kind of ideas are implemented in the comic.

  • other illustration - Maak snel vrienden!

There was a time i made fake ads as an autonomous project. this was one of them. I am sure you can see that Lucy The Home Made Maid came from this idea, much later.

  • cartoon-portrait - Yma

When Yma was born, Flora and Joel asked me to do the card.  ‘Yma’ comes from ‘Yma Sumac’ – so i thought it was nice to have a link with the magic Exotica feel of the artist. The little kolibri was used as a stamp.
